Jitpur Jhau Pokhari attractive rural tourism Area

Jeetpur is situated to the west of Ilam at the height of 1418 meter from the sea level, The humming sound of dragon fly around Jhyaupokhari in the dusk around the lake vibrates places around. Thus the name urinated, Jhyapokhari (dragon fly) and the inhabitants believe it . There was large lake in the former days but it dries up in the winter. These days the lake is filled with rain water during the summer season. The origin of the lake is buried in the hazy past. But the folks here believe that lakes started getting polluted and dirty as time passed by. The gods and goddess left the lake amidst playing musical instruments. Another belief is quite popular here too. While the lake was big there were plenty of wild ducks and the people used to hunting them and that was the cause of the lake drying up. In the remote past when the lake was large the devotees of the surrounding area sacrificed goat, cocks and celebrated dele ceremony amidst gusto and spirit. The lake is spread in five little reservoirs and in between pops up the small patches of earth circled by the lush green forest and tea garden which enliven the surrounding. Dattatraya temple is situated nearby silently welcoming the pilgrims and the travelers.Krishna Temple is under construction on the turf in the middle of the five lakes. From Jeetpur towards the east lies a dense forest; in the north-east lies a thick and ever growing village, in the south lies green tea gardens. Youths of the area have joined for a cause to protect the lake and they are active in keeping the lake clean and free from any further destruction of the lake. Starting from here travelers can easily reach Siddhithumka, Jeetpur,Ajambari Danda, Gajurmukhi Dham. Lodges are available in Jeetpur. In 3 hrs from Ilam via Nepaltar Jeetpur can be reached.

Siddhithumka Peak located as a centre of tourism development, from this Siddhithumka peak we can savor the sight of most of the VDCs of Ilam as well as the neighboring districts of Jhapa, Sunsari and Morang, and Darjeling and Siligudi of India. Also, we can enjoy the winding route of Mai River and the wonderful sight of Chure region from here. The development of Khatedhunga of the neighbouring village Soyak, Balkanya Devi and Gurdam Danda, Dhole Devi of Jitpur, Jhyau Pokhari as well as Gajurmukhi, Myangmalung, Chisapani, Panchami, Ravi, Larumba of Bhanjho and many other beautiful places into very attractive tourism sites help in the development of other places as well. The beautiful view of the third highest peak Kanchanjungha and the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest can be enjoyed from Siddhithumka peak. Since till 1983 there was enough forest in this place and there was a plant by the name of Bet which later bloomed and had tendrils, this place got its name Siddhithumka. The name originally came from a word Shree Furka of Limbu language. The meaning of Shree is Bet and Furka means the place where Bet blooms. Thus this place got its name Shree Furka, which in course of time changed into Siddhithumka. Or, here is a Siddhidevi hill that's why this place has got its name Siddhithumka, says a popular religious belief. Similarly, in Limbu community it is also stated that this name is a developed form of Siri, which means power and Kokma, which means powerful hill.

Red Panda Eco-Tourism at Ilam

Red Panda based eco-tourism has been initiated to conserve this threatened species in Mabu and Jamuna VDCs of the northern Ilam, and Red Panda Network (RPN) is supporting this initiative from the very beginning. This trail is not only important and famous research and nature lover point of view, but also joyful of Tea Garden and six “A” Aalu (Potato), Alaichi (Cardamom), Aduwaa (Ginger), Akabare Khursani (Red Round Chilly), Alon  (Milk) and Amliso (a grass from which brooms are made, Thysasanalaena).
In fact, these forests are well known to our partners, as we have explored them regularly, and looking for their rare birds — in particular those east Himalayan specialties not found elsewhere in Nepal. Such avian gems as Bay Woodpecker, Large Niltava, Yellow-cheeked Tit, Hill Prinia, Yellow-bellied Warbler, Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler, Rufous-throated Wren Babbler, Rufous-capped Babbler, Cutia, Black-headed Shrike Babbler, Rusty-fronted and Hoary-throated Barwings, Golden-breasted Fulvetta, Fire-tailed Myzornis, Brown and Black-throated Parrotbill, Maroon-backed Accentor and eight species of laughingthrush have been among our target species in the past, and we will look for such special species again on this tour.
If your dream is to see Red Panda in Nepal, there’s no superior place than Eastern Himalaya in Jamuna VDC. Most of our visitors were successful in seeing a red panda. Red Panda is famously elusive and usually viewed at a distance. But they more readily observe in this place than anywhere else, and you are much more likely to see them when you travel with us.
With our combination of expert guides, small groups, long-standing relationships with Red Panda Network and in depth days spent tracking Red Panda, we up your chances to examine them, plus other creatures like bears, rare clouded leopards, wolves, monkeys/macaques ad other threatened mammals and bird species. This spot is too popular for photography, if you’re a nature photography enthusiast. We spend several full days tracking Red Pandas in the broad expanse of the Jamuna VDC, using spotting scopes as we learn in detail about their habits and behavior from our naturalist Expedition Leaders and local researchers.
