The Himalayan Newt is a species of newt and common name of Newt is
Himalayan Salamander. It has small tongue, free on the side and slightly toward
its base, teeth on the palate, a thick skull. They have five toes and the tail
is flattened to aid swimming. They have wide head, short snout and the head has
three distinguished bony ridges with pores,
one along the center and two along the back of the sides of the heads. There
are no lobes on the lips. The body is 3 to 3.5 times as long as the head. There
is no peak running along the dorsal midrib as in a few newts however there is a
noticeable vertebral edge with a progression of handles framed from the
extension of the neural procedures of the dorsal vertebral bones. There is a
progression of 15 or 16 handle like permeable organs at the edges with the last
three behind the leg. The legs are reasonably long with the fingers and toes
inside webbing yet are marginally straightened. The tail is in any event the
length of the head and body and is smoothed to help in swimming. The tail has an
upper and lower peak which meets at the tip of the tail. The butt-centric
opening is a longitudinal opening, and its outskirts are not raised. The skin
is unpleasant and the parotid organs are vast. There is a solid fold on the
jaw. The whole newt is consistently blackish chestnut, marginally paler on the
lips, nose, button, throat, and under surface of appendages. The lower edge of
the tail is orange-yellow. Amid the rearing season in May and June these behavioral
contrasts between the genders. Romance and mating happen during the evening and
as in numerous lizards includes the male moving around it while twisting,
pushing and bending its tail. Himalayan newt is endangered list in the world.
More than 150 species are found in Ilam District, thus Ilam district is the
home of endangered newt. To conserve endangered Himalayan newt, a breeding
centre has been established in Puwamajhuwa area of Ilam.
Ilam is the real paradise of eastern Nepal.

Himalayan Porcupine
Porcupine or Himalayan Porcupine is a species of rodent in the family Hystricidea. Three subspecies are extant in asia. Porcupines are famous for their prickly covering. It have boldly marked quills with black and white bands. Some quills can be up to 20 inches (51 centimeters) long. Each quill has a muscle at its base. These long, pliable quills act as guard hairs and form a "skirt." When the porcupine is excited or scared, those muscles squeeze to make the quills stand up so the porcupine looks bigger. If a predator still tries to come close, the porcupine can shake and rattle those quills as a warning. It con be found from sea level to 1300m. It is found in dense forest as well as open areas. It digs into the ground and inhabits near rocky areas and also in the hole of tree barks or roots, where it lives in small groups. They normally feed on roots, tubers, bark and fallen fruits. It searches of food at night and rests during the day.

Sea Otter in Ilam
Sea otter is rare animal of the world which, known as
the hairy-nosed
otter. Sea otters is few number are found in Jogmai River. It is a
aquatic mammal, possessing a strong, rudder-like tail and large hind-feet that
swims in water and eat fish. It has blck and white colored. It has sharp teeth
and claws. It lives in the caves of river.
Wild Bat
Bat is a mammal found in Ilam. It has different
species. Fruit bats are commonly found live at the dark den home or hole. It
flies to seek food at night but sleeps at day. Its nature is wonderful for
visitors.
Spiny Babler in Ilam District
Spiny babler (Kade Bhyakur) is endangered bird
of the world is found in the forest of Jamuna VDC. This bird is from the
Timaliidae family and is beautiful in gray colour. It is also called "Kade
Vyakur" in Nepali. It is a rare species of bird found only in Nepal. It is
a medium sized bird with a sharp beak and is quite shy an elegant and
spectacular brown bird. Though the ‘Spiny Babbler” doesn’t has its name on extinction
but because of it scarce nature, it must be protected and should be given
special attention. A genuine fact about “Kande Bhyakur; Spiny Babbler” is it
was thought to be extinct for over centuries but later it suddenly came under everyone’s
attention when “Sidney Dillon Ripley”, an American ornithologist came to know
about its existence.

Red Panda in Ilam
Red Panda is a grace full wild animal of the nature. It is found in the
high forest of Ilam. Its local name is "Habre" are the endangered
animal of the world. There are approximately 25 pandas in Ilam. Red panda
networle , Nepal is working to preserve them in Ilam. It can live in the height
of 1800 to 4800 meters in 10o-15o celcus temperatures.
Its main food is bamboo shorts, leaves, leaves. Panda sleeps on the tree during
the day time. It ashames melt any other animals. The life span of panda is 8-10
years old (long).
