The Best View Point “Siddhithumka Peak”

Siddhithumka Peak located as a centre of tourism development, from this Siddhithumka peak we can savor the sight of most of the VDCs of Ilam as well as the neighboring districts of Jhapa, Sunsari and Morang, and Darjeling and Siligudi of India. Also, we can enjoy the winding route of Mai River and the wonderful sight of Chure region from here. The development of Khatedhunga of the neighbouring village Soyak, Balkanya Devi and Gurdam Danda, Dhole Devi of Jitpur, Jhyau Pokhari as well as Gajurmukhi, Myangmalung, Chisapani, Panchami, Ravi, Larumba of Bhanjho and many other beautiful places into very attractive tourism sites help in the development of other places as well. The beautiful view of the third highest peak Kanchanjungha and the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest can be enjoyed from Siddhithumka peak. Since till 1983 there was enough forest in this place and there was a plant by the name of Bet which later bloomed and had tendrils, this place got its name Siddhithumka. The name originally came from a word Shree Furka of Limbu language. The meaning of Shree is Bet and Furka means the place where Bet blooms. Thus this place got its name Shree Furka, which in course of time changed into Siddhithumka. Or, here is a Siddhidevi hill that's why this place has got its name Siddhithumka, says a popular religious belief. Similarly, in Limbu community it is also stated that this name is a developed form of Siri, which means power and Kokma, which means powerful hill.
