Barbote (Gaon) Village of Ilam District


Barbote is a small hilly village of Ilam District, situated at 1600m an altitude from sea level, very closed to Ilam Bazzar. The village Barbote has about five thousand population. This village is inhabited by different ethnic groups such as the Brahmin, Chhetri, Limbu, Rai, Tamang, Sunuwar, Gurung, Shrestha, Magar, Damai, Kami, and Sarki. Agriculture is the main profession major cash crops rabbits, cardamom, vegetables and Milk. Home Stay program provides the participants with an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of Nepali culture, lifestyle, language, food and people, Nepali cooking, dancing, playing instruments, games. Participants should remember that this is a cultural exchange and that an effort to offer some knowledge of their own home culture and customs to the family with whom they stay is appreciated.
