Bhalu Dhunga (Bear Stone) Ilam

Bhalu Dhunga (भालु ढुङ्गा) is a huge bear stone, which is one of the major tourist attraction in Ilam District. It is located Ilam Municipality – 6, Gadithumka, about 3 km far from heart city of Ilam bazaar. The area is surrounded by the community forest at the end of tea garden. The Gravel road
linked to this natural heritage, where as you can take Jeep or motorbikes, as well as hiking trail. The walking trail passing through beautiful scenery of landscape, tea garden and beautiful village, it takes about one and half hour walk form Ilam Bazar. On the way you can visit various Hindu temples as Shimha Devi Temple, Jalpa Devi Temple, Jalkanya Devi Temple etc. moreover, you can discover the different species of flowers as well as birds. The huge stone is itself amazing, which was discovered by villagers since many years. There is a short cave, where you can see the various natural shapes, foot print of Mahadev etc, also called in habituated of Ban Jhakri (wilderness shaman). Apart from it's attraction, in good weather, you can observe the beautiful Toribari village, Gurukul Hidroelectricity, Boudha Gomba of Chureghanti, Chhingtapu etc. Sorce: Hari Gurung
