Mai Pokhari Lake in Ilam

Mai Pokhari (dfOkf]v/L kf]v/L) lies at Maipokhari and sulubung VDC-4, Ilam is a public land covered with forest at the height of 2100 meters. The area of pond is 1.8 hectare, 7.25 meters deep and total area is 90 hectares. It is 18 km far north of Ilam. It belongs to the world heritage. It has nine corners naturally. It is the tourist destination; religious people go to worship the pond. Kirants, Buddhism Hindus believe on the pond ritually. There are temple, monastery, huts. 4 types of rhododendron, 3 types of primella, 16 types of orchids, 62 species of herbs, 300 species of plants, moss, salamander, Red panda, squirrel, frog, bat, deer, snake, 12 species of water animals, 3 species of fish, 6 species of mammals, and 208 species of birds are found there. ICIMOOD, WWF, IUCN are working for preservation.
