Geography of Ilam District

Ilam district has an area of 1703 sq.km. it lies among Jhapa, morang Panchthar and Darjeeling. Geographically, there are many hilltops and some low lands in the south. The high hills are named as sandakpur, chintappu, Anta, Siddhithumka, Tumling, Karfok, Kanyam, Pathivara, Murti, Hjure, Gurdum, Ajambari, etc. These hills are like view towers in Ilam. Streams, waterfalls, ponds are remarkable. 'Mai pokhari' is the biggest pond, and 'Todke waterfalls' is very beautiful with the rainblw scene. (The peaks of hills are rocky) (Different types of soil are found here to row vegetable, crops and fruits) the height of low land in Ilam is 300m. from sea level upto 3636m.
