Manebhanjyang Sandakpur 9 Days Trekking

Ilam, a hilly district situated in the far eastern Nepal, is divided into 48 Village Development Committees (VDCs) and one municipality. This district is fully covered by hills except some parts of inner Terai. The district covered by pleasant natural geo-structure, temperate climate, low green hills and fertile lands, has been made prosperous by the hard work of the farmers.
 


The district is famous for tea and six 'As' - aalu (potato), alaichi (cardamom), aduwaa (ginger), akabare khursani (red round chilly), olan (milk) and amliso (a grass from which brooms are made, Thysanalaena). This district is proceeding towards modern agricultural business from the traditional cereal farming. Among the six 'As', potato, ginger, cardamom, red round chilly and amliso are exported to Siliguri and Darjeeling in India whereas milk is taken to Kathmandu via Biratnagar and Tea is exported to foreign countries. Ilam is inhabited by the people from various sects and ethnic group and is an interface of different cultures and religions. Ilam has exciting natural green hills covered with tea plantation and forest, diverse climate, simple living style and houses depicting its own arts and unique style. The following touristic places with panoramic view are eager to welcome guests.

Day 01. Kathmandu-Bhadrapur- Fikkal
Early in the morning, transfer to airport, take fly form Kathmandu to Bhadrapur (45 minuts). Some one will be wait at the airport with your name than take private vehicle to Fikkla. Around 3hrs drive, arrive at in Fikkal, welcome our guest with welcome drinks at Shikhar Guest house, Visit Fikkal Bazaar and after lunch, hiking to Kanyam Tea Estate. Over night in Guest House.
Day 02. Fikkal - Antu
Early in the morning after having breakfast, start to walk form Fikkal bazaar, via Barbote, discover to buddist stupa and continue to walk to wards Kattebung village, the settlement of Rai, limbu, Bramhan, chhetri etc, with in 1h30 descend to ward to Siddhi river and steep climb to sribung village passing trough beautiful village and take way to ward Sri Antu Hill. Warm welcome by home stay.  Overnight home stay.
Day 03. Antu-Pashupatinagar
Very early in the morning, climb to Antu Hill to see Sun Rise view then back to take breakfast then start our hiking to Pashupatinagar, on the way visit tea factory then around 2h30 walking dense forest arrive at Budhadham bazaar, visit Buddhist monastry “Nangbasange Gomba” at Budhadham, take lunch at Budhadham, then visit old market, then continuer to follow the beautiful vehicle road, visit cheese factory, green tea factory, Hanuman Temple and overnight at Pashupatinagar. Overnight in guest house.
Day 04. Pashupatinagar-Manebhanjyang
After breakfast, departure to Manebhnjyang par beautiful village, and continue move to visit Chitre Gumbba, Jau bari Herbal medicine plantation, visit Megma Gumbba and stay over night at guest House.

Day 05. Manebhanjyang - Sandakpur
In morning start to move out toward Kal pokhori, Bikhe bhanjyang,
arrive at sandakpur which is famous Hill of the east Nepal and situated at 3636 meter high altitude. Over night at Guest House.
Day 06. Sandakpur
Wake up early in the morning to see Sun rise from sandakpur Hill top then back to guest house for breakfast then, hiking sandakpur to mai majhuwa khorsane tar. Overnight at Home Stay.

Day 07.  Khorsanetar- Chhintapu – Deurali Bazaar
Take breakfast early then walk around 2hrs from Khorsanetar to Chhintapu, which is second hight hill of ilam district, walk around 6hrs. Form Chhintapu hill top we can see the allover the area Koshi and Mechi Zone, third Highest Himalay Kanchanjanga, Kumbakarna, Mount everest, makalu, water falls, Pathibhara mana bhara Hill, it could be find Red Panda, wild pig, Yashargumba, some other herbal medicine ect. After taking picture and move down toward Deurali Bazaar to stay over night at small Hotel. Overnight at Home Stay.
Day 08.  Deurali Bazaar- Mai Pokhari- Ilam
Wake up at 0600 Hours and move out toward to Mai Pokhori situated at an altitude 2130m. It takes around 30 Minute to walking distance from Deurali Bazar. Visit 9 corner sacred lake Mai Pokhari which is surrounded by dance forest of Rhododendrons (white, red, Pink), discover Maidevi and Shiva Temple situated near the lake. Take simple lunch then descends toward ilam bazaar through Jasbire Bhanjyang, quite 3 hours walking arrive Ilam Bazar. Visit around Ilam Tea Garden and old Tea Factory which is built on BS, 1935. Overnight in Guest House.
Day 09.  Ilam - Bhadrapur
After breakfast, take local bus from Ilam to Bhadrapur and back to Kathmandu by plane.

Cow farming in Ilam

Cow farming is a source for generating income of Ilam District, peoples use to sell the milk on market maximize benefits and survive their lives. Ilam is an agricultural district there are lot of possibility in cow or dairy farming. Demands of grass feed dairy products are increasing rapidly in the world, if we export dairy product then earn billions of rupees each year, but there are only few commercials dairy farm started in Ilam.

Pashupatinagar Village Development Committee Ilam

Pashupatinagar is a village development committee in Ilam District in the Mechi Zone of eastern Nepal. Pashupatinagar VDC lies near Nepal’s eastern border at Darjeeling District, west Bengal State, India. It is also one of the important town in Ilam district and one of the majour place in Mechi zone for tea production and cheese production. It is famous for natural scenery and landscapes. Pashupatinagar is sub-divided in 9 different wards, the central office lise in ward number 4. International as well as domestic tourists used to visit to observe the beautiful natural scenery in the month of September October. Pashupatinagar and Falate Bazar are the major business center of Pashupatinagar VDC where every Thursday, a weekly market held.

Geography and climate: 
Pashupatinagar VDC located in the Eastern Region in Ilam District of Mechi zone, Nepal. It is situated between 26°54’ 45” to 26° 59’ 00” north, and from 80° 04’ to 80° 07’ 45” east. Pashupatinagar VDC covers approximately 28.33 square km the total area of Ilam District. It has neighboring Darjeeling District of India in the east, Fikkal VDC in the west, Gorkhe in North and Shree Antu VDC in the South. Almost part of this VDC lies between 1200 to 2200 meters from sea level in Mahabharata rang. Its temperature varies from 2 to 20 degrees. It is cold and freezing in the winter, mid warm in summer and fogg in the monsoon season.
 Demography and Society: 
 According to 2011 Nepal census, Pashupatinagar VDC has a population of 29, 0082 but currently this could be more then 30, 0000. The major ethnicities in Pashupatinagar are Bahun, Chhetri, Kami, Damai, Newar, Leptcha, Tamang, Mukhiya, Khawas, Marwadi, Yalmu, Sherpa, Sunuwar, Magar, Rai and Limbu among others. The official language is Nepali (Nepalese) but some ethnics speak their own languages (mother tongue) like Limbu, Tamang, Sherpa, Limbu, etc. Most of people are influence by Hindu religion but there Buddhist, Kirat, Muslim etc. According to their religion, they celebrate the most important festivals like Dashain, Deepawali, Chhath, Buddha Jayanti, Loshar, Maghe Sakranti, Saune Sakranti, Mah Shivaratri, etc.
Education and Literature: 
There are some 10 + 2 level colleges provide higher level education in Pashupatinagar VDC and more then 2 high school and few private boarding schools. Shree Baudhhadham Higher Secondary School is the main educational foundation who provides the higher education. Xavier’s School in Pashupatinagar is running in private, providing quality education since its Establishment.

Economy: 
 The main economy of Pashupatinagar VDC is agriculture. Pashupatinagar is best place for cash crops which is known for its six “A”s in Ilam District. Those are alu (Potato), Alan (milk), Alainchi (cardamom), Aduwa (Ginger), Amroso (broom Grass) and Akabare Khursani (Red Round Chilies) etc more over although tea, cheese production, flowers and green vegitables are also produced in Pashupatinagar. It is also one of the important business centers in Ilam district.

Cultural and Natural Sports:
 Pashupatinagar VDC is rich in natural as well as cultural and religious heritages. There are lots of places which have its own important and can be considering as best place to visit. There are lots of cultural and religious places in this district. Ganesh Temple, Hanuman Temple, Krishnapranami Temple are few of them, where Hindu devotees visit during the festival. More over Yalmo Gomba and Boudha Gomba are the most important Buddhist monuments in Pashupatinagar. Pashupatinagar is one of the finest tourist destination attraction both national and international tourists. This is the entry gate of Sandakpur trek and Antu hill hiking. There are very good accommodation and food facility for tourist.

Transportation: 
 Pashupatinagr is located about 46 km from Ilam bazaar and 9 km from Fikkal bazar. There are regular buses are available from Fikkal which takes about 10 to 20 minutes. There is some private vehicle service from Ilam or Fikkal.

Kolbung Village Development Committee Ilam

Among 48 VDC, Kolbung is one of village development committee in Ilam District. It situated an altitude 200m to 1840 meters from sea level. It is in the east of headquater of Ilam which cover 34.05 squar kilometers. Geographically, Kolbung village development committee situated between 26°45 to 51°26 in the northern latitude and 88°01 to 88°05 in the eastern longitude.  Kolbung has warm in summer and few cold in winter. This village is boundary by Irauntar VDC in the east, Santipur VDC in the western and Jhapa in the southern side, it also has 9 ward. Most of Rai, Tamang, Limbu, Magar, Leptcha etc ethnic people are in habitat. Agriculture is the main income source of those people. Large number of vegetables eg: christophine (Skquas) radish, cauliflower, cabbages product, more then this Tea, cardamom, potatos, ginger, brom grass, milk are the main cash crops of this village. The main stream of this VDC are Biring Khola, Kali Khola. We can go Kolbung throung Mechi Hightway because this village adjoined with Mechi Hight way.

Ilam Municipality is a headquarter of Ilam District in Mechi Zone of east part of Nepal.


Gorkhe Village Development Committee Ilam

Gorkhe is a village development committee of Ilam district. It lie about 48 kilometer in the eastern part of Ilam Bazar where 5208 poples in habitate. Gorkhe cover an area of 22.06 square kilometer. The most of lad lie in the Mahabharata range and sub-divided in nine wards. In winter, it has cold and freezing climate in height part and warm in lower part of this village. Both of hindu and bouddhist people are live. Major Rai, limbu, Sherpas, Tamang, Gelbu, Magar, Madwadi, Leptcha community peoples are living. Those peoples depend upon in agriculture as well as business. Large quantities of green vegetable like christophine (squas) potatoes, cucumber, red round chill etc product and ginger, cardamom, broom grass, milk as cash crops. Most of farmer of Gorkhe have cow farming, goat farming for there economic support. Gorkhe bazaar is the important weekly mdarte of this VDC where one a week heald market people sold there products. Most of busnise main come from India to buy green vegetables. 
Shiva Temple, Devthan and Chitre Gomba are the main religious site of Gorkhe Village development Committee where one a year annual faire held according the calendar.
To go Gorkhe VDC, there are two main road which link with district headquarter of Ilam, Ilam to Gorkhe gravel road via Fikkal and Ilam Namsaling Via Nayabazar.

Godak Village Development Committee Ilam

Godak is a village development committee of Ilam district, located in the eastern region of Nepal. It is situated between 26°50 to 26°01 north latitude and 87°05 east longitudes. Geographically it extends with the elevation ranging from 467 to 1500m above sea level in the Mahabharata range. The Godak Village Development committee cover 23.05 square kilometer of lands of Ilam district where Panchakanya in the east, Mai river in west, Jogmai in North, Laximpur VDC in south. The climate of this Village development committee is few cold and dry in winter and hot and rain in summer. A wide range of ethnics groups inhabitant. Erautar Village Development Committee Ilam


Irauntar is a village Development Committee in Ilam district in Mechi zone which is the hilly region in Mahabharata range. It lies approximately 22 kilo meter in the south of ilam bazaar at the altitude of 180 to 1824 meters height and situated between 26°44 to 26° 49 northern latitude and between 88°03 to 88°07 in east longitude. The Irountar VDC cover an area of 32.76 square kilometer of Ilam District, where the population is about 4326. This village development committee is bordered by Jirmale VDC in the east, Kolbung VDC in West, Kanyam in the north and Santinagar of Jhapa and Bahunadagi VDC in southern side. This VDC is sub-dived in nine wards where central office is in Irountar village ward number-1. Different types of ethnic groups living in Irountar VDC, the main ethnic groups are Brahmins, Chhetris, Rai, Tamang, Newar, Gurung, Letpcha etc. They have simply living style and houses are in unique style. Most of people are depends upon in agriculture. The major cash crops are potatoes, ginger, tea, cardamom, broom grass etc besides of cow and goat farming are the main source of income of this villagers. The most of people are Hindu as well as Buddhist religious and celebrated Dashai, Tihar, Udhauli, Ubhauli festivals. Erauntar is a home of variety of flora and fauna. Various species of orchids, rhododendron, herbs, rare animals like musk deer and rar insects are found. Shree Hashpokhari Majhuwa community forest has support to preserve the flora and fauna. More then 40 types of orchid flowers could found so visitors used to come to reach for flora. Irauntar VDC has cold and freezing climat in the winter, mid hot in summer. Hanspokhari Lake is a popular pilgrimage site and Siddhadevi is religious site of this village. Irauntar is surrounded by scenic terrace slopes and plains covered by different vegitations. The village offer very beautiful natural scenery and landscapes. Timai khola, Telpani Khola, Bhalukhola, Sahakali khola are the main streams that flow Irauntar VDC. We can take local bus from Ilam bazaar and Jhapa to go Erauntar VDC, there other gravel road also link with this village, from where we can take 4x4 private vehicle.

Antu Village Development Committee

Antu Village Development Committee is a town and village in Ilam District in Mechi Zone of east part of Nepal.


Antu Hill of Ilam District

Shree Antu is 50 KM far from district headquarter ‘Ilam’. It covers 18.8 Square Kilometers. It lies on 957 m to 1800 m elevation range. It lies on the lap of Antu danda with natural beauty. Antu danda is famous for sunrise. We believe that this is the place where sun rise for the first time around Nepal. Panorama Mountain View can see from this place. You can see landscape of Darjeeling, Silguri, Mirik etc of India and some places of Nepal. The road to Shree Antu is linked with Mechi highway at Chhipitar (Fikkal). There are different ethnic communities including Lapcha. Tea and Milk are the major products of this VDC. Shree Antu is also known for Paying guest or home-stay. It is potential for agro-tourism.

Access: 
Road (under construction) is connected with Mechi Highway at Chhipitar (nearby Fikkal). So, you can get direct jeeps service from Birtamode, Fikkal or Ilam bazaar. Nepalese and Indian tourists can enter through Chhabise or Okaty (Indo-Nepal boarder).

Food and Accommodation: 
Shree Antu is famous for paying guest or home-stay. So, you can stay with local people and pay reasonable amount for lodging and fooding. Local people serve local food items with Antu tea. You can experience your sleep in traditional houses and rooms. You can experience local life too. You can also experience jackal win with local foods.

Best Season: 

You can visit Shree Antu anytime and experience local life and learn about agriculture basically Tea. But, there is certain time for sunrise i.e. October to December and March to June for sunset. Occasionally, you see sunrise and sunset in other time too.

Major attractions:
Antu Danda: 
Antu Danda is known as Dipendra peak which lies on the boarder of Shree Antu and Samalbung VDC of Nepal. ‘Athu’ means highest point in Lapcha language later became antu. It lies at elevation of 1823 M. It is good place for sunrise and sunset. You can see the breath taking Mountain View from here especially third highest peak of world i.e. Mt. Kanchenjunga. There is thick forest of pine trees on the peak. Information office cum ticket counter and view tower are under-construction at the peak. Mud road follows up to the peak.
Antu Pond: 
Antu pond is nearby Bhanjayan. It is middle of tea garden with beautiful flower garden. This is human-made garden. During the season, there is boating facility too. There is an island at the side of pond which increases beauty of the pond. There different colors fishes under the water of the pond.

Gufapatal: 
It is in Ward No.-8 of Shree Antu VDC at the elevation of 1827 M. It is named after cave. People say, Lama lived in caves there before. It is like an end of horizon (of earth). You can see different places of Darjeeling. It is nearby Indo-Nepal boarder. So, most of the visitors are Indians.

Mechi River: 
Mechi River is boarder of Eastern Nepal. The origin of the river starts from ward No.8 of Shree Antu. 
Nearby the origin, there is a pillar (Jange) No.26. It is called Chhabise too. This is best place to visit eastern boarder of Nepal.
Nageshowri:
It is a religious spot. Nearby the temple there is a forest with old trees. There are many herbal plants. So, this is developing as an herbal park.
Lapcha community and Lapcha Museum:
Lapcha are honest and helpful. 38 Lapcha families live in this VDC. They have traditional tools and weapons which were used during the war between Nepal and Tibet. They also have their own language, culture, religion, customs etc. According to history, Lapcha protected Shree Antu and Samalbung VDC to merge in India. Lapcha museum is under construction. But, people keep the traditional weapons and tools which you can ask to see.
Tea Factories: 
Ilam Tea Producers P. Ltm and Ganesh Himal Tea Producers P. Ltm are two factories around Shree Antu. Annually, they produce 7.5 lak KG Tea (esp. orthodox black tea). Normally, local people are employed in these factories beside tea-makers (They are from Darjeeling). There is a cheese factory in Shree Antu too. These factories are open universities for them who want to learn about tea processing and producing. Tea gardens and these factories are important for tea-tourism.

Flowers: 
Flowers are trade-mark of Shree Antu. People sell their flowers and earn money. Orchid, Godawari, Cactus, Begunia, Cycle-man, Rose, Angelia, Carnation etc are flower which you can find in local gardens of Shree Antu. Shree Antu is especially famous for Orchid.

Tea and Agro tourism: 
Shree Antu is great for natural beauty & it has great potentiality for agro-tourism. Tea is major agro-product which is covered 605 Square KM of land. Besides that, Cardamom, Ginger, Broom-sticks, milk etc are other major agro-products of Shree Antu.
Besides these, there are many-more to see around Shree Antu like forests, temple, picnic spots etc. Visiting Shree Antu is great experience. You can experience village life of eastern Nepal. Welcome to Shree Antu, land of Sunrise and Tea.


Aitabare Bazar

Aitabare is a hill station for home stay. It is on the Mechi Highway in Ilam. It is multi castes community like Rai, Newar, Tamang, Sherpa, Lepcha and Brahamins.
